Seriously, thank you all for your advice and insight, your friendship and your uplifting words. I'm overwhelmed by your kindness to me. I'm doing my level best to stay positive about the whole situation and will definitely continue to work on my interviewing skills and my networking.

Darn E, I didn't see your post until now. You know I'm thinking about you, and sending you all the positive vibes I can though! You got some great advice here.. and I really do believe that everything happens for a reason.. when it's your time, the right job will fall into your lap. I recall you telling me something to that effect about another matter not long ago, hmmm?

Until that happens and we lose you to the work force b/c of lack of time, keep on crankin' out those masterpieces for us to admire. :) (Yeah, I'm being a bit selfish here!) Patience young Padewan, it's all going to work itself out!

  2. Just saw this too, Erica...you're brilliant - woman, don't worry...it will come around...and it'll be perfect and completely worth the wait when it does.

Oh yeah - and those Clarkston folk are a bunch of snobs anyways...consider your self blessed! ;)

Dude. Now... Anonymous Coward does have some good things to say, but as a Human Resources Professional in the state of Michigan, who just so happens to be interviewing for a position in my department I have some additional comments. I have received TONS of resumes for the position I'm hiring for (and Dude, if you has benefits administration experience you'd be in like Flynn). Seriously, TONS. Flooded. People with waaaaaaayyy more experience than I have. TONS.

Now, it may not be your interview skills. I know that during the interview I'm delving deep into the skill set and knowledge base I'm looking for. You could be the most awesome, most Miss Congeniality, etc., but if you can't answer my questions, or if your skill level doesn't meet my needs I'm not going to persue another interview. The Michigan economy is TOUGH right now. Really, really tough and the competition is fierce. Please don't beat yourself up about this. Something WILL happen. Just keep applying everywhere possible. :)

Hey girl, you know I can feel you on this. I think the economy pretty muh sucks everywhere. You know how Jim was out of a job, so I can totally relate to your desire for work and the lack of opportunities. Keep your head up and keep hitting the pavement, so they say. Something will come along, I am sure of it.

Dang, I've been missing out on a lot of posts lately. It sucks to reenter the job market, especially as a woman with two small kids. It's a tough job market and a difficult time of the year to look for a job. I think you'll have more luck in the spring. I'm sure something will come up, maybe in an area you haven't even considered. Maybe you should look into graphic design -- show your cards and logos to some small companies. You do such amazing work, especially for photographers. And I could really see you running your own company, you know. You don't get benefits, but there are a lot of other perks. :)
